Obituary Condolences

GUAY, Charles Francis Charles Francis Guay, 86, of Granby and formerly of Windsor, beloved husband for 62 years of Pauline (Clukey) Guay, died on Tuesday, (April 20, 2004) at a local convalescent home. Born in Jackman, ME, son of the late Rudolph and Alice (Sullivan) Guay, he had lived in Windsor for 52 years before moving to Granby two years ago. A veteran of World War II, Charles served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater and was discharged as a Tech Sergeant in 1945. Charles was a retiree of the E.L. Young Company in Springfield, MA, where he served as the Vice President of Sales. He was a longtime member of St. Gabriel Church in Windsor and more recently of St. Bernard Church in Tariffville. Charles was a member of the parish council at St. Gabriel Church, Bishop McAuliffe Council #3181, Knights of Columbus, and was a past president of the Holy Name Society. Besides his wife he leaves two sons, David Guay and his wife, Peggy of Granby, and Paul Guay and his wife, Kathy of Mansfield, MA; two daughters, Judith Costa and Lisa Guay both of Largo, FL; two brothers, Gerard Guay and his wife, Helen of Bingham, ME, and Edward Guay and his wife, Ruth of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Bernadette Lancaster and her husband, Thomas, and Pauline L. Guay all of Frederick, MD; six grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Francis Guay. Family and friends may gather on Friday, April 23, 9 a.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m., at St. Bernard Church, Tariffville. Burial will follow in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery. His family will receive friends TODAY, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all of the nurses and staff at the McLean Home for their care and support. They have asked that memorial donations be made to McLean Home, 75 Great Pond Rd., Simsbury, CT 06070-9912.
