BENSON, Robert W., Jr. Robert W. Benson Jr., 46, of Briarwood Dr., Old Saybrook, beloved husband of Marji (Joy ) Benson, died Tuesday, (November 23, 2004). Born in Middletown, on February 22, 1958, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Dawn (Stannard) Benson. He was Vice President and Treasurer of Tiffany Benson , Inc., builders of fine homes in Lyme and surrounding areas. He was a master craftsman who built detailed custom homes that were featured in magazines and books. Many of their homes have won awards for design and execution. He lived his early years in Ivoryton and moved to Old Saybrook in 1967 where he lived until his death. He was an avid NASCAR fan, car enthusiast and dedicated family man. Besides his wife he is survived by four children, Kyle of Middletown and Old Saybrook, Tyler, Whitney and Samuel, all of Old Saybrook. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and James Sisco of Loudon, TN; his maternal grandmother, Alyce Stannard of Old Lyme, several nieces, nephews, and cousins; two grand nephews and a grand niece. Calling hours will take place Tuesday, Nov. 30., from 5-7 p.m. at the ROBINSON, WRIGHT & WEYMER Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 9:45 a.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to a college fund set up for his children at The Robert Benson Memorial Fund, c/o Essex Savings Bank, Box 528, Old Lyme, CT 06371.
