ALLEN, Lorraine Elizabeth (Holcomb) Lorraine Elizabeth (Holcomb) Allen, a Plainville native, died peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, (December 21, 2004) at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. She was the beloved wife of the late George Aldor Allen. She was born in New Britain, daughter of the late Harold and Roseanne (Miller) Holcomb. A longtime Plainville resident, she attended local schools, graduating from Plainville High and New Britain General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at New Britain General Hospital, Plainville Convalescent Home, and retired from Farmington Convalescent Home. She was an avid crafter, and enjoyed gardening, playing bridge, family vacations, and socializing with her many friends. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church. She leaves five children, Cheryl Everson and her husband, Henry of Plainville, Karen Martin of Westerly, RI., Brian Allen and his wife, Vikki of Farmington, Robert Allen and his wife, Claire of Bristol, and Nancy Bosse and her husband, Kevin of Bristol; her grandchildren, James, Shelley, and Michael Everson, Misty, Sadie, and Owen Martin, Kristopher, Melanie, Sarah, David, and Nicholas Allen, and Justin and Ryan Bosse. She also leaves two sisters, Lois Ann Pelletier of Harwich, MA and Janet Marie Miesinger of Vero Beach, FL; several nieces and nephews; and her two very dear and caring friends, Connie Francis and Louise Garewski. Her sister, Elizabeth Jane Carlson predeceased her. In Lorraine's memory, the family requests that in your heart, you may perform and "Act of Kindness" to family, a friend, or neighbor. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9 a.m. from Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday, from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
