SILVA, Margaret G. Margaret (Giachello) Silva of Newington, passed away on Saturday, (January 1, 2005) after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. Born in Hartford on November 4, 1922, she married Frank Gomes Silva in 1946 and together they shared over 58 years in a wonderful marriage. She was a para-legal secretary for various Hartford law firms, retiring from full time work in 1984 from Robinson, Robinson and Cole. She continued to work part-time into her 70's for the Probate Court in West Hartford. Mrs. Silva enjoyed many adventures traveling and always loved a dinner of shrimp or lobster. She was also a fantastic cook, herself, and with her red hair and hearty laugh, she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her devoted husband, she also leaves three loving children and their spouses, Marilyn and David Jacobs of East Lyme; Richard and Pattie Silva of Southington; Thomas and Ellen Silva of Glastonbury; six wonderful grandchildren, who will miss her very much, Rick and Steve Silva of Southington; Katie, Kerry, Alison and Gregory Silva of Glastonbury. She also leaves her sister Mary Street in Florida; her brother John Giachello of Suffield and many special nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her sisters, Frances Ingari and Angeline Tarza and brothers Eugene Giachello and Anthony Giachello. The Silva family also wishes to acknowledge the gentle and compassionate care provided by the staff at Ellis Manor in Hartford, where she spent the last eight months of her life. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 5, at 10:30 a.m., from Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 11:30 a.m., at Holy Spirit Church, 183 Church St., Newington. Entombment will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery Mausoleum in Bloomfield. Relatives and friends are invited to call TODAY, from 4-8 p.m., at Newington Memorial.
