Edith Gaudet Obituary

Edith Mae (Allen) Gaudet, 73, of Bloomfield, beloved wife of Allen E. Gaudet, who fought a courageous battle with cancer, died Saturday, (August 3, 2002) surrounded by her loving family at home. Born in Hartford, daughter of the late, Jesse and Ethel (Brownbridge) Allen, she lived in Hartford before moving to Bloomfield 51 years ago. Edith was employed by the U.S. Postal Service and worked at the Bloomfield Post Office for 25 years before retiring in 1990. For the past 30 years she was co-owner with her husband, Allen, of American Prefab, in Bloomfield. She was an active BINGO player at the Windsor Elks Club and she was very generous to many non-profit organizations. Besides her husband, Allen, of 53 years, she is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law, David Gaudet of Hartford, Curtis and Karen Gaudet, of Granby, Gary and Sheri Gaudet, of Bloomfield, Allen and Ann Marie Gaudet, Jr. of Broad Brook, Kenneth and Cindy Gaudet of Meriden; two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara and Concetto Beninato, Jr. of Bozrah, Lenore Bolasevich of Windsor; a brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Pat Allen of Bloomfield; 11 grandchildren, Melissa Gaudet, Curtis Gaudet, Jr., Jessica Beninato, Wahied Jerjies, Jr., Jason Gaudet, Angela Gaudet, Allen Michael Gaudet, Ryan Gaudet, Lillianne Gaudet, Matthew Gaudet, Mollie Gaudet; a great grandson, Christian Barry Gaudet; and many nieces and nephews. Edith was predeceased by a granddaughter, Barbara Beninato and a son-in-law, David Bolasevich. Family and friends may gather Tuesday, August 6, at 9 a.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Ave., Bloomfield. Burial will be in Windsor Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Windsor. Her family will receive friends Monday, August 5, from 5-8 p.m. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home.
