Obituary Condolences

Russell D. Beveridge, Sr., of Newington, passed away on Monday, (September 2, 2002) surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Ruth (Seagren) Beveridge for 57 years. Born in New Britain, son of the late David F. and Martha (Friese) Beveridge, Russell was a Newington resident for 57 years. He was a longtime member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Newington, and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of World War II. Russell retired from The Herald after 46 years of employment and was a 50-year member of Walnut Hill No. 139 Masonic Lodge. A loving and devoted father, he was active for many years in youth activities as his children were growing up. Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Russell D. Beveridge, Jr. and his wife, Debra (Metty) Beveridge of South Glastonbury; his daughter, Lynn R. Beveridge of Newington; his grandson and his pride and joy, Matthew David Beveridge; his two sisters, Edna B. Murphy of Plainville, Arlie B. Devnew of Moravian Falls, NC; many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his three brothers, Ralph F. Beveridge, E. Kenneth Beveridge, and Leslie A. Beveridge. His funeral services will be held Saturday, 10 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1655 Main St., Newington, with the Rev. John Marchhausen, officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, 5-8 p.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. A Masonic Service will be held at 6 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 1655 Main St., Newington, CT 06111.
