Roderick Labbie Obituary

Roderick J. Labbie, 67, of George Drive, Old Saybrook, died on Thursday, (July 12, 2001) at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. He was the husband of Dolores (Chikla) Labbie. He was born on Aug. 3, 1933 in Wallagrass, ME, son of the late Joseph and Henrietta (Saucier) Labbie. He owned and operated R & D Centerless Grinding, Plainville, and retired in 1997. He was a caring father and a wonderful provider. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, Jeffery J. Labbie of Wallingford, Gregory M. Labbie and Roderick W. Labbie, Jr., both of Bristol, Robert J. Sparaco of Ivoryton, and Mark T. Sparaco of Lake Worth, FL; his daughters, JeanAnn Gagnon and Tammy M. Labbie, both of Bristol; a brother, Joseph J. Labbie of Vermont; and his sisters, Beatrice DesJardins of Florida, Pauline Caron of Plainville, Jeanette Houle of Bristol, Lorraine MaGuda of Southington, Mabel Markie of Farmington, and Juliette Lavoie of Plainville; nine grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, 10 a.m., at St. John's R.C. Church, Main St., Old Saybrook. Burial will be private. Friends may call at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main St., Centerbrook, Tuesday, 9-9:30 a.m. Contributions in his memory may be made to St. John's Church, 161 Main St., Old Saybrook, CT 06475 or the American Liver Foundation, 75 Maiden La., Suite 603, N.Y., N.Y. 10038.
