Ms Patsy, Dr Michael and girls, it was my privilege to work for Dr Larry for 10 years and from the first day I knew he was a man of God and loved being a physician. When he retired he often would come back into the clinic and state that he would work for free if it was possible. He cared about his patients and prayed with many and was always giving a witness to his love for God. He loved you all so much and loved to tell us about what each one was doing. He was so happy when his son came to Hattiesburg and joined him in the practice there. It is my prayer that God will give you comfort in the coming days as you make this adjustment in your lives. Just remember that he was loved and respected among so many.

Dr. Michael,
I am so saddened to hear of the loss of your father. Dr. Larry was an extraordinary doctor and an amazing person. He took such good care of me when he removed my tonsills twenty years ago. He was so caring, intelligent, thorough, thoughtful and always went above and beyond for his patients. He will be dearly missed. Heaven gained a wonderful, extra special angel Sunday. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family for swift peace, comfort and healing during this difficult time.

Larry has ment so very much to our family. He graduated two years behind me at LSU and he and I talked many times about to University.
More important, he employed our daughter, Wynn Alford, to be his audiologist and was a great influence on her and her family. He will be surely missed.

Wonderful man! I remember a particularly funny day with him in the office wearing a Hawaii style brightly flowered shirt with an extremely gaudy bright gold chain around his neck!! A special present from the staff! He did wear it!! For a few minutes anyway! We loved him.

Dearest Holly, Patsy and family: How glad we are to have had the privilege to know Dr. Larry-even for just the short time we had. He was, quite obviously a kind and lovely man. He had an interesting face that would absolutely light up when he spoke of those he held dear-and a smile that could make anyone feel good. I can only imagine how much he will be missed. My family and I are keeping you all close in heart and prayers. So very, very sorry for your loss. Michelle and Berry Zeeman and family

Dr. Hammett never knew this, but he has served as an unbelievalbe inspiration for me. When I was in medical school at LSU, his son Michael was my roomate. I remember going to Larry and Patsy's house in Hattiesburg. Dr. Hammett was a type 1 diabetic. I, too, am a type 1 diabetic. It was his discipline with his diabetes that motivated me to get my diabetes under control. I will forever be indebted to him for that. My guess is that he influenced people everyday in his practice and in his family life and didn't even know he was doing it. I pray for all of his family and especially Mrs. Patsy. She may not even remember who I am but know that you all have been very inspirational for me and I thank you. What a husband, a father, a physician and a man.

We'll never forget the trip we took with Patsy and Larry to Rome. They didn't allow pictures in the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican, but I wish I could have taken one of Larry's face! A picture that would show pure delight, wonderment, and joy! We will miss you. Your peace and grace are now with The Lord.
