Andrew Lear Obituary

Andrew Richard Lear

Sumrall, MS

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Temple Baptist Church for Mr. Andrew Richard Lear, 49, of Sumrall, MS, who died November 16, 2011, at his residence.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Mr. Lear was owner of Auto Glass/City Glass Company, and a member of Oloh Baptist Church.

Andy was bigger than any words could describe. He was more than an adoring husband to Lis, a loving dad, wonderful brother, and giving friend. He enjoyed , changed, and molded the lives of all he met. All only for the return of a smile. Andy's contagious, beautiful smile, cheerful laugh, and zest for life were unmatched. The sound of his voice and laughter now echoes through all our hearts, and is now ringing in the halls of heaven.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Richard Lear and Monica McDermott Lear, and a daughter, Abigail Lear.

Mr. Lear is survived by his wife Lisa Martin Lear; five sons, Thomas Fox-Lear of Hattiesburg, Kyler Gates of Purvis, William Fox-Lear of Hattiesburg, Tucker Gates of Wiggins, and Connor Gates of Sumrall; two daughters, Jessica Lear of Hattiesburg, and Charlotte Lear of Sumrall; two sisters, Carol Smith and Sandra Gregory, both of Newton Abbott, England; and two brothers, Brian and John Lear, both of Newton Abbott, England.

Donations may be made to the Andy Lear Memorial at Community Bank.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM Monday, and 8:00 AM until service time on Tuesday at Temple Baptist Church.

Thinking of monkeys and swims to the salty, weetabix on lonely mornings, bus fares and Sunday burns, potatoes and broken records, toothpaste, mouthwash and crumpled fivers. Twintubs and wellies, logs and chainsaws. Crab sanwhiches and blue huts. Five hour bike rides sunsets and t-shirts. Fishing, speedboats and dwarf DJ's. Chinese orders and stolen dreams. Cabins and building dams. Australia, ugg boots and things unsaid. Laughter and smiles and an unfulfilled pledge. Favourite blue jeans faded upto the sky. You'll be forever on our minds.x

Dearest Beloved, I have to believe that you know how much we are all hurting by the absence of your smile and laughter, you came into our lives and hearts and there will be a hole there that no one else could ever fill. You are my brother! You touched all of our hearts and souls with your zest for fun and thoughtfulness, you were so outgoing and never met a stranger, always making people feel connected to you, and glad that we had this time with you will resonate in our hearts forever, til we meet again, love be with you and surround you, sis (please keep a watch out for us up there)

Andy was a wonderful human being who meant a great deal to our family. In the years that he was married to my sister (Cindy) he seemed so happy. He was the best brother-in-law ever....and I will remember his laughter forever. Christmases at the camp are some of my best memories. I will never forget our airplane ride together. Andy is at peace now and is with Abigail in heaven. My deepest sympathies to the family and may God Bless you at this time.

The song says "If I could turn back time" but we can't except in our minds and hearts. So many people have wonderful memories of you so they'll turn back time in their minds and hold onto their memories and their love for you. It was an honor to have known you and for you to be part of our family. Our thoughts and sympathy are with your family.

Andy was one of those special people who come along only once in a while. That's how we met him. Our children knew the Lear's children from being in school together and, of course, Abigail's tragedy brought this whole community together with their entire family. All of our hearts broke for each of them. Then the friendship just grew. We were guests in his cabin and his home and he was just absolutely a lovely, personable, very special friend who will be missed so much. Our hearts go out to ALL of his family and friends and extended families. God be with each one of you and hold you all close together in his loving arms. We're promised to see Andy and all our loved ones gone before us again with our Savior, Jesus Christ. We have that assurance. God Bless you All. You will be in our thoughts and prayers through these sad days ahead.

Our family met Andy and his 4 children 6 years ago on the 19th of this month at their home. Our son received Abigail's heart on Nov. 3rd 2003. It was a very emotional meeting, but one that has never been forgotten. Andy gave our Son Terry a signed football by Brett Farve. We lost our son on March 14th 2006 and haven't had any contact with Andy since then. We are so sorry to hear about this, and just to let you know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
