Beatrice (Bea) Bradley was born in Bellefontaine, MS, a small community in Webster County. She attended Eupora High School.
From an early age, she wanted to be a school teacher
. Pursuit of this goal was very difficult in the WWII period. But with the shortage of teachers, due to the war effort, she was able to secure an elementary school teacher position with only one semester of college credit. She continued her college education in the summer months. Over a period of years, Bea attended Wood Jr. College, Delta State, Holmes Jr. College, the University of Oregon, and the University of Southern Mississippi.
Bea loved teaching and seeing students grow in knowledge. She was active in local, state, and national education organizations and achieved leadership roles in most of them. She served as President of MEA (Mississippi Education Assoc.) in 1971. On one occasion, she addressed the Mississippi Legislature on behalf of teachers and students.
One of her passions was assisting high school students in obtaining college scholarships.
