Billy Herman Morris
Billy Herman Morris, 74, of the Midway community, passed away January 3, 2013 at Wesley Medical Center in Hattiesburg, MS. Mr. Morris was called home to the Lord peacefully while surrounded by his family. He was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Bill Morris of Purvis on September 10, 1938.
Billy Herman attended Purvis High School, before attending Pearl River Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi. He joined the Army
National Guard and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He raised 3 children and lovingly welcomed 7 grandchildren. He successfully established his own business, Morris Pest Services in 1962. He was a member of West Black Creek Baptist Church.
Billy enjoyed hunting and drinking coffee with friends. He took great pride in his community and cared for the people in it. Above all, he always enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren. He consistently let them know how much he loved them and how incredibly proud he was of them. He often expressed that pride to everyone he knew.
He was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Alice Morris, as well as his sister, Frances Steele and his brother, Larry Morris.
Billy is survived by his wife, June Morris of Midway, daughters Sheila Morris Moran of Kiln, MS, (Philip) and JoJo Morris Brady of Sumrall, MS( Glen) and son, Buddy Morris of Sumrall, MS (Karen Grimmett), grandchildren, Lori Moran and Alan Moran, both of Kiln, MS, Cody Morris, Caleb Morris, Caleigh Morris, all of Sumrall, MS, Sara Hadyn Brady and Banks Brady, both of Hattiesburg, MS. He is also survived by sister, Betty McCarty(Burnett) and brother, Bobby Morris ( Linda) as well as nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Visitation services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Jones & Son Funeral Home from 5pm- 9pm in Hattiesburg. Funeral service will take place Sunday, January 6, 2013 at 2pm at Jones & Son Funeral Home. Mr. Morris will be laid to rest at West Black Cemetery.
