Caleb Hazel(1977 - 2013)

Caleb Israel Hazel

Pensacola, FL (formerly of Petal, MS)

Caleb Israel Hazel, 35, of Pensacola, Florida, passed through heaven's gates on January 17th, 2013. Caleb was born in Tampa Florida on October 10th, 1977 to Gary and Deborah Hazel and big brother Joshua Hazel. As a youngster with blond hair, green eyes, infectious smiles and giggles, he left everyone he met with a lighter heart all the way from Florida to Mississippi where he attended Petal's Q. L. Smith Elementary School. Caleb and his family moved back to Florida in 1991 and settled in Pensacola. Caleb quickly began rounding up new friends at Pine Forest High School where he graduated in 1995. After high school, Caleb began working full time and was soon married and blessed with his own blond-haired, green-eyed, smile and giggle-laden little girl -- Aubrey Anne Hazel instantly became the light of his life.

Caleb (affectionately known as "The Dago" by his granddad) was a master chef on the BBQ grill. He loved cooking and lived for everything about the outdoors, hunting, fishing, boating, anything outdoors and Caleb was there, usually volunteering to cook, clean or do the heavy lifting! His favorite thing was teaching his daughter Aubrey how to shoot and hunt. She loved it as much as he did. Everyone who knew Caleb admired him as a stand-up kind of guy. He was the first one to offer a helping hand when someone needed it.

Caleb is survived by his daughter, Aubrey Anne Hazel, parents Gary and Deborah Hazel of Sumrall, MS, brother Joshua (Erin) Hazel of Hattiesburg, MS, grandparents John and Rosamond Carruth of Sumrall, MS and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents James and Audrey Hazel of Greencastle, Indiana, his uncle Mike Hazel of Greencastle Indiana and uncle James Carruth, of Sumrall, Mississippi.

Caleb leaves so many very special friends to cherish his memories. The family has a special request that these memories be written down for Aubrey Anne so that she may also cherish them forever.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January, 22nd 2013 at Military Baptist Church in Sumrall, Mississippi. Services will be held at 2:00 PM at the church and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
