Charles E. "Chuck" Sorensen(1931 - 2013)

Charles E. "Chuck" Sorensen

Wiggins, Mississippi

Born March 1, 1931 in Galesburg, Illinois, he passed peacefully into God's Kingdom on January 4, 2013. He grew up and was educated in Iowa City, Iowa, attended University of Iowa where he studied Theology and Philosophy. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Joy O'Neal Sorensen, brother Harold (Debbie) Sorensen, Son Kim Sorensen (Suzanne) Haug, daughter Cheryl Sorensen (Steven) Bupp and grandsons Kevin James (Cassie) Bupp, Michael Eugene (Callie) Bupp, Christopher Merle (Theresa) Bupp and David Charles Bupp, as well as dozens of beloved nieces and nephews.

A charismatic salesman and Vice President of Brenner Cine Sound in Washington, D. C. he did very well in developing and promoting the sales, rental and repair of motion picture equipment for over twenty-five years. Prominent customers included numerous motion picture production companies, government agencies including Army and Navy departments, and the White House, among others.

Chuck's Danish and German parents brought him up in the Lutheran church and when he and Joy were to be married in Washington, he searched out Zion Lutheran Church in Takoma Park, Maryland for a small wedding with Pastor Edward R. Bley officiating. Pastor Bley became rather an icon in our family, later officiating in the wedding of our daughter Cheryl and her husband Steve in the church, as well as the memorial service for our son James Andres Sorensen (age 24). After retirement, Pastor Bley was again called upon to officiate on stage at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre for the wedding of son Kim to his wife Suzy!

Moving back to Mississippi in 1999 where Joy had grown up and where they had met in 1954, he decided the First United Methodist Church of Wiggins was the perfect home for worship and other Christian activities.

Funeral services will be held at Moore Funeral Home on 1115 W. College Avenue, Wiggins, Ms. on January 7, 2013. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Paramount Baptist Church on Paramount Church Road, Perkinston, Mississippi.

Pallbearers are four grandsons, Kevin, Christopher, Michael and David Bupp; son Kim Sorensen Haug and son-in-law Steven Bupp.
