M. V. "Cotton" Walters

Services will be held 10:00 a.m.Tuesday at Jones & Son Chapel in Moselle for M. V. "Cotton" Walters 84, of Moselle, who died at Monroe Hall in Hattiesburg November 30, 2012.

Mr. Walters was born in Moselle to Virgil and Marie (Bowman) Walters, the oldest of 12 children. He attended Moselle school then served as a paratrooper in the United States Army 1946-1947. He married Doris (Humphries) Walters on March 27, 1951. In their early marriage they lived in Texas, North Carolina and Mississippi before settling in Pascagoula, MS in 1961 to raise their family. During the 18 years he worked at City Lumber Company as a foreman building trusses and continued to work for them when their operations moved to Gulfport. They moved to Florida in 1981 where he retired from A1 Roof Truss Co. in in 1992. They retired to live closer to family in Moselle where he helped build his son's house, haulded dirt in his old dump truck, and could always be counted on to tell an entertaining story or two. He was a member of the Moselle United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Doris Walters; three children, Mitchell (Ann) Walters of Pascagoula, Perry )Gladys) Walters of Moselle and Myra (Roger) Ruby of Sheldon, IA.; six grandchildren: Brice (Karmen), Brock (Kristal), Bobby (Rachel) and Bo(Rachel) Walters, Jessica, Jared (Candace) Ruby and 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Yvonne Croxton, Jimmie Nell (Alec) George, Margaret (Bill) Dunnigan, Phyllis Reans, Jayne (Hollis) Duckworth; brothers, Bob (Patsy) Walters, Don (Donnis) Walters, Tom (Brenda Walters, sisters-in-lae, Evelyn Walters Evie Campbell, Jimmie Humphries, Eldna Humpries, Chellie Boone and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, JoAnn Waggoner and June New, brother Mike Walters, brothers in law Johnnie New, Gene Croxton, Bill Waggoner, L.Q. Reans, Buddy McGraw, John Campbell, Johnnie Humphries, Eldna Humphries, Wood Humphries, Hubert Humphries, Leon Boone and sisters-in-law Lina Humphries and Mamie Humphries.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations go the or to the Moselle United Methodist Church Restoration Fund.

Visitation will be held 5:30-8:00 p.m. Monday at Jones & Son Funeral Home in Moselle.
