Mamie Ruth Bates
Mamie Ruth Bates, 96, of Hattiesburg, passed away on October 8, 2013, at Bedford Care Center. Visitation will be Friday, October 11, 2013, at Big Level Baptist Church in Wiggins, from 1-2 p.m., with services immediately following. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Bates and her husband were the former owners of City Café in Pascagoula. She was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star and Big Level Baptist Church and loved to sing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert "Bob" Bates, Sr.; a son, William Robert "Little Bob" Bates, Jr.; and a daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Alva Bryan.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Judye and John Miles of Hernando, MS, Stephanie and Stan Caldwell of Hattiesburg; a sister, Edna Noble of Baton Rouge; a brother, Bill Hatten of Wiggins; four granddaughters, Pam (Isaac) Gonzales of Cathedral City, CA, Holli (Lou) Bourque of Woolmarket, Beth Bryan of Palm Desert, CA and Sarah Caldwell of Hattiesburg; four grandsons, Ki (Charlene) Miles of Hattiesburg, Daniel (Kathleen) Miles of Vicksburg, Samuel (Kelly) Caldwell of Hattiesburg and Stephen (Meg) Caldwell of Hattiesburg; six great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.
