Milford P. "Holly" Hollingsworth
After a lengthy battle with lung disease, Milford P. "Holly" Hollingsworth passed away Saturday, April 13, in hospice care in Houston, TX. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Indian Springs Baptist Church, 185 Walter Myers Road, Petal, MS, followed by burial in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hollingsworth grew up and attended school in Petal. Immediately upon graduation in 1951, he enlisted in the Navy, serving for four years in the Navy "Seabees" during the Korean War
era. While in the Navy, he returned home on leave and married Frances Blake in 1953. After being discharged, Mr. Hollingsworth came home to Mississippi where he and his wife made their home shortly thereafter in the Indian Springs community for 48 years. He worked at the Amerada Hess refinery in Purvis for 37 years where he made many lifelong friends, until retirement in 1994. Additionally, Holly and Fran were lifelong members of the Indian Springs Baptist Church, where they also had many lifelong friends and many family members. In 2007 they moved to Pearland, TX to be closer to their daughter.
Mr. Hollingsworth was preceded in death by his parents, T.M. and Edna Hollingsworth; sisters, Ethel Suggs and Lola Hulsey; and brother, Tommy J. Hollingsworth.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Blake Hollingsworth, daughter and son-in-law, Rennie and Dennis Bartlett, all of Pearland, TX; son, Kevin Hollingsworth and longtime companion Dale Hensley, Dallas, TX; sister, Catherine Herrod, Natchez, MS; brother, Bob Hollingsworth, Jackson, MS; grandsons, Charlie Bartlett and wife, Elana, and Tim Bartlett and wife, Stephanie, and four great grandchildren, all of Pearland, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 17th, from 5-9 pm, at Moore Funeral Home, Petal, MS.
