R.J. "Jay" Hemba
R.J. "Jay" Hemba, 81, of Lumberton, Mississippi departed this life on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in the care of his family.
A native of Lumberton, Mississippi, R.J. was best known for being the owner of Jay's TV in Lumberton for over 35 years. He was educated in the Lumberton City Schools where he excelled in his academic studies and was a star football player who played side by side with his lifelong friend Claude Hartley. Upon graduation from Lumberton, he furthered his education at Hinds County Junior College where he laid the foundation to be successful in his future business endeavors. A sense of patriotism also led R.J. to serve his country in the Mississippi Army National Guard, spending the majority of his service in Lumberton.
R.J. will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Hemba and Odessa Williamson Hemba; his wife, Juanita "Sis" Hemba; one granddaughter, Sarah McFadden, and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include three sons, Rickey (Virginia) Hemba of Ocean Springs, MS, Joel Hemba of Hattiesburg, MS, and Phillip (Jyl) Hemba of Russellville, AR; one daughter, Cindy (Pat) Kempner of Fort Worth, TX; two granddaughters, Brittney McKinnis and Karalee Wells; two grandsons, Alec Hemba and Chase Williams; and three great grandchildren, Aubrie McFadden, Ryley Jay Hemba, and Beatrix Wells.
Friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, October 7, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at White Funeral Home, Lumberton. Graveside ceremonies will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2012 at Talowah Cemetery in Purvis with Brother Jesse Ladner officiating.
