Andrew Allen Suggs, formerly of Hattiesburg, passed away after a lengthy fight with cancer on June 13, 2012, at the age of 91.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ethel Hollingsworth Suggs; his parents, William Walter Suggs and Ethel Goodson Suggs; two brothers, Ben Suggs and W.D. Suggs; and two sisters, Lanell Eaton and Charlotte Coghlan.
He is survived by three daughters, Ann Suggs, Susie Cavaretta and Dee Morris; grandchildren, Hope Scott, Rachel Daws, Stephanie Adams, and Tabitha Butcher; and great-grandchildren, Dominick and Natalie Daws; three sisters, Patty Welford, Elsie Hooks and Lucy Priest; and brothers, Willette Ford, Walter Suggs, Henry Suggs and Wesley Suggs.
Andy served in the US Army, and was retired from the VA Hospital. He served as a deacon at Lakeside Baptist Church for almost 50 years. He enjoyed fishing, wood working, and was able to travel to 49 of the 50 states, Canada, the Caribbean and the Bahamas. He also enjoyed his walks and talks with his friends every morning at the Lakeside Mall.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. followed by services at 3 p.m., Friday, June 15, 2012 at Moore Funeral Home, 805 Hardy Street, Hattiesburg. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery in the Eatonville Community.
