I had the sincere pleasure of working with Renee for a short time at UTMB and it is true what everyone has said about her. Her smile could and always did brighten up any day. God Bless You Renee for the light you brought to all our lives here and also the wonderful cakes you would bake for folks' birthdays. As Ethel Waters would say, "See you in Heaven; I'll be looking for you"

Words cannot express the hole left by Ella Renee's passing. It just seems too soon. She was such a light in the lives of so many people, especially her beloved Jeremiah. Her cheerful and willing attitude was pervasive and lifted the hearts of her co-workers even when she was in the midst of her own struggles with cancer. I knew I could rely on her to take care of any administrative problems that came up. I miss her, and wish I could have been there in person to grieve with her family. I want her family to know she was beloved by her co-workers and will be sorely missed. UTMB will not be the same without her. Good-bye my friend, I will miss seeing your beautiful smile light up the room when I come in to work. but I know I will see you again on the other side.

Renee always had the biggest, sunniest smile every single time I saw her. When I started as a graduate student in the Anesthesiology Dept., Renee always looked out for me, helping me with paperwork, travel arrangements and so much more. She always made sure everybody was set with whatever they needed and just had the biggest and kindest heart. While I'm still in shock over Renee's sudden passing, I take comfort knowing she is no longer suffering or in pain and can finally rest in peace. Throughout her illness she fought so bravely and courageously that I can only hope to be even half as strong as she was whenever life-changing times arise. My sincerest condolences to her family and her son. Heaven has gained a guardian angel like no other.

I worked with Renee for many years and she was the light of our office and had such a positive attitude despite feeling terrible during chemo treatments. She inspires me to push myself and to really live life to its fullest. She will be missed by all who knew her. My thoughts are with her family and friends who have lost a beautiful soul.
