Jimmy Edward Creel Obituary
Mr. Jimmy Edward Creel

Jimmy Edward Creel, 75, of Richton, went to be with Jesus on October 29 at his home in the Dykes Chapel community. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 2, at Dykes Chapel Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. The Reverends Henry Cochran, Charles Mayo and J. R. Hartfield will officiate, with grandsons, nephews, and friends serving as pallbearers.

Lovingly called "Papa" by his six grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Mr. Creel never met a stranger and made friends from Africa to Alaska to Norway and everywhere in between, He treated the waitress at the local café or the richest man in town with the same respect and earned the respect of everyone he met.

Mr. Creel served in the Korean War and worked as a driller in the oil fields for many years and enjoyed traveling around the world. With the love of his life by his side, he raised four sons and enjoyed a successful career in the trucking and diesel mechanics industry. He could take a diesel engine apart and put it back together with his eyes closed, but he was also a successful business owner who worked hard and made a very good life for his family. He treated his wife like a lady and did his best to make her life comfortable and happy, and now he has joined her in heaven.

Mr. Creel had a trademark smile, a generous spirit, and a good name which he earned through honesty and fair dealing. His entire life was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was also a constant source of support and encouragement to his twelve siblings. Mr. Creel was a devoted Christian, and he and his wife loved watching Jimmy Swaggart on television and listening to him sing and play the piano.

Mr. Creel was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years, Mary Lou Dykes Creel, and his parents, David Percy and Willie V. Edwards Creel; two brothers, Albert Creel and Harold Creel, and one sister, Janice Hosey. He is survived by four sons; Richard Creel, John Creel, and Tony Creel all of Richton, and David Creel of Jackson; six grandchildren' Courtney Creel Sims of Stringer, John Doss Creel of Richton, Kahlin Creel Christian of Fort Bragg, NC, and Shelby Creel, Dakota Creel, and Colby Creel, all of Richton; two great-granddaughters, Grace McLain of Ovett and Arley Sims of Stringer; four brothers' Randall Creel, Donnie Lee Creel, Mike Creel, and Bennie Creel; five sisters' Merlene Dominguez, Pauline Hamm, Trucine Mills, Deborah Jean Wages, and Christine Sistrunk; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jones & Son Funeral Home of Richton is in charge of the services and the family would like to thank their friends and the entire community for its kindness.
