Mr. John Emory "Johnny" Smith

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2014, at Jones & Son Chapel in Moselle for Mr. John Emory "Johnny" Smith, 65, of Moselle who passed away June 7, 2014 at his residence.
Johnny graduated from Hamburg High School in 1967. He received a parks and recreation degree at Arkansas Tech University, wildlife management and Forestry degrees from the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He owned and operated Johnny's Water Care, a water condition business for a number of years in Hamburg, AR where he also, served as a City Councilmen and Volunteer Fireman. After earning his forestry degree in 1990 he began a career with Georgia Pacific as a procurement forester in New Augusta, MS. Afterwards, he managed a MAP program in Monticello, MS and Taylorsville, MS for several years before retiring from Georgia Pacific in 2007. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church in Hamburg, AR and is a member of Temple Baptist Church in Hattiesburg. He was an avid fisherman, deer and duck hunter, and loved to camp with his life-long friends.
He is survived by his wife Belle Smith of Moselle; son John Frederick (Tara) Smith of Monticello, AR; step-daughter, Tina Michelle (Chris) Cobb of Petal; step-son, Michael Christopher Rogers of Moselle; sister, Camille Smith (Jack) Carpenter of Perryville, AR; grandchildren, Collin Cobb, Wyatt Emory Smith, and Walter Maddox Smith.
