Truman S. Roberts, 73, of Petal died Friday, December 28, 2012 at Forrest General Hospital. Services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Main Street Baptist Church followed by burial at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Magee at 3:30 p.m.
Mr. Roberts was a devoted member of Main Street Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, the Treasurer; Chairman of the Finance Committee; and Landscape Committee. Mr. Roberts founded the Nissan franchise in Hattiesburg and Toyota of Hattiesburg. He served on the Nissan Dealer Advisory Board and the Board of First Mississippi National Bank. He was a Commissioner of the U. S. Soil and Water Conservation Service. He was on the Board of the Petal Education Foundation. He served as President of the Petal Optimist Club, and he owned Turkey Trott Ranch, 5 R Development, and currently owned Auto World, Inc.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Maudie Roberts and two brothers, Billy Ray Roberts and Herbert Roberts.
He is survived by his wife Patsy Mahaffey Roberts of Petal; four sons: Gordon (Susan) Roberts; Freddy (Beth) Roberts; Joey (Zan) Roberts, all of Petal; and Carey (Cathy) Roberts of Russellville, Ark.; 13 grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, December 31, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. until service time at Main Street Baptist Church.
He loved all and was loved by all who knew him.
