Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins for Verdee Garrick Bryant, 100, of Hattiesburg who passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at the Bedford Care Center in Hattiesburg.

Reverend Wayne Woolwine, and her great nephew, Rex Garrick will officiate at the services with interment to follow at the Crosby Cemetery in Jones County. Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be her nephews.

Mrs. Bryant was born on March 2, 1913 in the Rainey community in Jones County, Mississippi. She was a 100 years old and the last survivor of her immediate family. She was the sixth child of Louena Rainey Garrick and Robert Luther Garrick. She graduated from Sanford High School and went to Jones County Junior College for one year. She then met and fell in love with Earl Houston Bryant and they were married on November 13, 1934. She was not blessed with children of her own but had many nieces and nephews that she loved and cared for. She retired from Barfield Office Supplies and Printing in Jackson as a print clerk. After her retirement, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, football games, and traveling. Mrs. Bryant was a member of the Shelton Baptist Church in Jones County.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Luther Garrick and Louena Rainey Garrick; her husband, Earl Houston Bryant; four brothers, Ernest Garrick, Earl Garrick, Ellis Garrick, and Jacob "Bully" Garrick; and two sisters, Vallie Welborn and Vergie Lott.

Survivors include a host of nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins. Family and friends may sign an online guest book at www.billymkingcolonialchapel.com
