1924 - 2014 Obituary Condolences
Hazel Denson

Hazel Denson, 89, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg on March 29, 2014. She was the second of seven children of George and Pearl Grayson and grew up in the Glendale community. She worked in retail sales for many years at Belk-Whitley in downtown Hattiesburg and then worked for over 40 years at Deville's (fine women's clothing). She had many devoted customers and was passionate about helping her customers choose the perfect clothing for whatever occasion. She also loved doing this because she got to work with some of her best friends every day.

Hazel and her late husband, Beman, had a long and happy marriage of 69 years and enjoyed life to the fullest with family and many good friends. They traveled often over the Southeast and California. One of her favorite activities was fishing with her family on the Coast. She spent many happy days with her two grandchildren fishing and entertaining them. She also had a love for sewing and was always creating one of a kind outfits for her grandchildren.

She was an active member of Temple Baptist Church on Hardy Street until health prevented her active participation.

She was predeceased in death by her parents, her husband and one brother and three sisters. She is survived by one son, Randy Denson and his wife, Sue, by two grandchildren, Angela Denson Castro and her husband, Malcom, and Jonathan Denson and his wife, Brandy. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Mia Suzann Castro, Addison Sophia Castro and Jaxon William Denson, one sister, Bonnie Franks, and one brother, George E. Grayson, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, with services at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home, and burial following at Glendale Baptist Church Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Hardy Street Baptist Church, Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
