Hattiesburg

Kimble Hembree, 83, of Hattiesburg, died April 14, 2014, at his home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, April 17, 2014, at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, followed by burial in Highland Cemetery.

Mr. Hembree served in the United States Marine Corps 8th division tank battalion. He retired from the United States Army Audit Agency in 1975 in Atlanta, AG and moved to Hattiesburg working in real estate.

Mr. Hembree served his Lord Jesus in the jail ministry, ministering to prisoners in Forrest, Lamar, Marion, Perry, Jones, Walthall and Covington County jails. He was a member of Lincoln Road Baptist Church and a Gideon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Olan Hembree and David Hembree; and four sisters, Mae Jewel Scoggin, Mildred Hembree, Mabel Williams and Tommye Phipps.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Hembree of Hattiesburg; two daughters, Sandra (Scott) Hillman of Crystal Springs and Wanda Hembree of Hattiesburg; two sons, Stephen Craig (Linda) Hembree and Chris Hembree, both of Hattiesburg; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Nelda Brady Davis of Shubuta; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg.
