Katherine "Kay" Salter

Hattiesburg, MS

Memorial services will be held at 1 pm Friday at Parkway Heights United Methodist Church for Katherine (Kay) Salter, 55, of Hattiesburg, who died Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Forrest General Hospital.

Kay was born in Shaw, MS and grew up in Jackson. She moved to Hattiesburg in 1990 and since 2002 has served as secretary at Westminster Presbyterian Church where for several years she has also coordinated Hattiesburg's Breadbasket ministry. Kay performed for many years as a harpist. She was a beloved member of the community, particularly as a member of the Racquet Club of Hattiesburg. Kay was preceded in death by her mother, Charlotte Ezell Salter. She is survived by her husband, Howard Keever of Hattiesburg; her father, Cary W. Salter, Jr. of Jackson; her sister, Florence Gay Salter of Jackson; three step-daughters—Sara Keever of Carrboro, North Carolina, Ellen Keever, and Grace Kelly, both of Hattiesburg; and one step-grandson, Owen Todd of Carrboro.

Memorials may be made to: Westminster Columbarium Fund, 115 N. 25th Ave, Hattiesburg, MS, 39401. The family will receive friends at the church at 12 noon, Friday.
