Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, November 9, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church of Hattiesburg for Sylvia Webb Power, 78, of Hattiesburg, MS.
She died Monday, November 5, 2012 at Forrest General Hospital.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Mrs. Power was a native of Louisville, MS and was the daughter of the late Howard E. Webb, Sr. and Inez Price Webb. She was a graduate of Louisville High School and attended the University of Southern Mississippi where she studied home economics.
Mrs. Power married Charlie Power in 1954. Over the years, she and Charlie lived and worked in Kosciusko, Tupelo, Jackson, Gulfport, Birmingham, AL, and Hattiesburg. She worked at Pine Grove Recovery Center in the 1980's where she assisted and provided support to people as they began their journeys in recovery. She loved her family and friends, and she cherished the time she spent with her granddaughter. She liked a good book, pretty things and a good laugh. She was an active member of her community and church where she was a member of the Women in the Church and loved playing bridge and hosting dinner parties with friends.
Mrs. Power was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hattiesburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard E. Webb, Sr. and Inez Webb of Louisville, MS; brother, Howard E. Webb, Jr. formerly of Bogota, Colombia, S.A.; and an infant daughter, Retha Ann.
Mrs. Power is survived by two daughters, Ruth Power of Tampa, FL and Linda Giles (Thomas) of Hattiesburg; a granddaughter, Theresa Elizabeth Giles of Hattiesburg; and niece, Denise Webb Posada of Bogota, Colombia, S.A.
Memorials may be made to French Camp Academy.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg, MS.
