Tressie Shivers Faler, age 85, passed away on November 15, 2012 at Wesley Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

Services will be held in the Chapel of the Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins, MS at 11 am on Saturday, November 17th. Visitation will start at 9am preceding the service.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lucille Mikell and one sister, Katherine Turner, and her first husband, John H. Shivers, Jr. and more recently, her husband, Billy Jack Faler.

She is survived by three sons, John (Linda) Shivers of Clinton, Mike (Debby) Shivers of Waynesboro and Carlis (Tonya) Faler of Madison, and two daughters, Barbara (Howard) Parish of Clem and Martha Faler of Seminary, nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, and two sisters, Eva Broome of Crystal Springs and Mary Armstrong of Byram, and one brother, Jack Mikell of Hattiesburg.

Mrs. Faler was born on December 13, 1926 in D'Lo, MS. She spent her childhood in Silver Creek, MS and graduated from Silver Creek High School. She married John H. Shivers, Jr. of Prentiss after his return from World War II. They were married for 35 years and reared their three children in Prentiss. She was an active member of Whitesand Baptist Church for many years. She was known for her excellent cooking skills. She especially enjoyed fishing and hosting large family fish fries. She worked for a number of years as Director of Custodial Care at Jefferson Davis County Hospital.

After the death of her first husband, she married Billy Jack Faler of Collins and enjoyed a 21 year marriage. She became a member of First Baptist Church of Collins and loved her involvement in the Collins community.

The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff of Covington Ridge Assisted Living in Collins and Magnolia Place in Sumrall for their loving care.
