Services will be held at 12 Noon Monday at Providence Baptist Church for Mr. Joseph Fannin Jr. age 65, of Bogalusa, LA who died Wednesday Nov 14, 2012 at Touro Infirmary in New Orleans, LA.
Burial will be in Providence Cemetery.
Mr. Fannin was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Myrtle Kennard Fannin Sr.
He was survived by his wife, Pat Burkhalter Fannin of Bogalusa, LA; one son, Joseph Fannin III of Aberdeen, MS; one step-son, Ty Williams of Ridgeland, MS;
two daughters, Janet Lee Tubb of Tupelo, MS and Jackie Birkbichler of Saltillo, MS; one sister, Nelda Corley of the Eatonville Community; and three grandchildren.
Joe grew up in the Eatonville Community. He graduated from North Forrest High School where he was an honor roll student and captain of the football team.
Joe graduated from USM where he received his BS degree in Radio-Television with a double minor in Journalism and Health-Physical Education.
He was Former Retail Advertising Manager for the Hattiesburg American.
Joe was the publication manager for the "Today in Mississippi", produced by the electric power associates of Mississippi. (EPA's)
He retired from WICK Publications as publisher of the Bogalusa Daily News.
Joe served on the boards of the Sullivan Vocational Technical College, the Nellie Byers T
raining Center, and the Bogalusa Food Bank.
He received the Mississippi Commendation Medal from Gov. William Winter while serving with the Mississippi National Guard.
Memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church and the Bogalusa Food Bank.
Visitation will be 11 AM Monday at Providence Baptist Church.
