Curtis Stoutamire Jr.

Hattiesburg, MS

Curtis N. Stoutamire Jr. 50, of Hattiesburg, MS died January 16, 2013 in the comfort of his home. Services will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at 1:00 p.m., at Rock of Ages Christian Fellowship Center, followed by burial in Highland Cemetery.

He was born March 1, 1962 to Mr. and Mrs. Curties Stoutamire Sr. in Glen St. Mary, FL. He was the third child of seven. He graduated from Baker County High School Macclenny, FL in 1980. On August 5, 1980 he enlisted in the United States Army where he served 24 years. He retired in October 2004 with the rank of Sergeant First Class(SFC). In 2005 he was employed by the United States Postal Service until his time of death. He was the Vice President of the National Assocication Letter Carrier (NALC) local union Hattiesburg Branch 938. He will posthumously receive a Bachelor of Theology from Higher Calling Bible College and Theological Seminary in Hattiesburg, MS.

Curtis accepted Christ in his life at Rock of Ages Christian Fellowship Center in October 2005. Once accepted, he had a burning desire to serve the Lord in any capacity that the spirit called him. He began serving faithfully as the Men Sunday School Teacher and on the Men Usher Board.

He is survived by his loving parents Elder Curties and Flossie Stoutamire Sr. of Glen St. Mary, FL, and his loving mother-in-law Ms. Lanita Sanders, of Roxie, MS.

He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife Juanita L. Stoutamire of Hattiesburg, MS.

Six siblings Cheryl Stoutamire, Glen St. Mary, FL. Evelyn (Monty) Jordan, Winston Salem, N.C. MSG Ronald (Alisha) Stoutamire, Seattle, Washington. Margie (Eddie) Basante, Birmingham, AL. John Stoutamire and Michael (Melvina) Jacksonville, FL.

Seven grandchildren Rachel and Jordan Stoutamire, Junction, City Kansas. Princeton Hawkins, Kelsey and Bryson Sims, Hattiesburg, MS. Zion Stoutamire, Clarksville, TN and Ayana Hawkins, Mannheim, Germany.

In-laws Ivory Basley Little Rock, AR. Dianne Basley Natchez, MS. Barbara (Warren) Bulliox, Chicago, IL. MSG (Retired) Ken Basley Roxie, MS. Rita (Otha) Riggins Pasadena, CA and Lovia ( Ladell) Granger Canton, MS.

Visition will be Tuesday January 22nd from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Hall-Fairley Funeral Home in Hattiesburg.
