Judith Ann Harrell passed away Sunday, June 30 in Hattiesburg, MS at the age of 92. Judy, as she was known to friends, was born Judith Ann Owens on February 12, 1921 in Nashville, TN to Sandy Ennis Owens and Bentie Louise Thomas Owens. She married Harwood Max Harrell, a fighter pilot in World War II, on May 27, 1955. After his release from the service, Judy spent years moving around the country and raising their three daughters, Sandy, Ann and Amy, while Harwood worked in the oil business for Phillips Petroleum. Sandy was tragically killed at the age of 5.

After becoming widowed in 1971, Judy went to work for Cowboy Maloney's in Jackson, MS as bookkeeper where she remained until her retirement. She came to consider everyone there her second family. Upon retirement, she moved to Hattiesburg to be near a daughter attending USM.

She was a faithful and cherished member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. One of the joys of her life was bridge. She attained the level of Master Bridge Player and taught many aspiring players how to play the game. She will be remembered as a friend to many who was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer encouragement. Judy is survived by two daughters, Ann Riley and Amy Davis of Lebanon, IN, a sister, Betty Snowden of Sugarland, TX and a grandson, Jefferson Riley of Seattle, WA.

Judy donated her body to the University of Mississippi Medical Center to help medical students in their training. A memorial service to celebrate Judy's life will be held Tuesday, July 2 at 11:30 am at Parkway Heights United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, Judy requested that donations be made to the Westminster Relief Fund, Attn: Debbie Hudson, 124 E. Hardy Street, Hattiesburg, MS 39401.
