Ethan Edward DeCoux

Ethan Edward DeCoux, 29, passed away Tuesday, July 2 surrounded by his family. Ethan graduated from North Forrest High School and later from Pearl River Community College. Always a hard worker, he had worked since he was 16, and for the last seven years prior to his illness he had worked as an electrician at Forrest General Hospital. The friendships that he made there resulted in many kindnesses, including a whole team of friends and colleagues coming out and building him a beautiful, professional wheelchair ramp. He was an avid Saints and USM fan, and went with friends to many of their games. His gentle, hard-working spirit will long be remembered by friends and loved ones. He was pre-deceased by his maternal grandmother Jean McCurry and paternal grandfather George DeCoux Sr. He is survived by his mother Valerie Rachal, his father George DeCoux, his sister Ashley DeCoux, his grandparents Regis and Judy McCurry and Mary Frances DeCoux, his uncle and aunt Kevin and Mary McCurry, his aunts Elizabeth DeCoux and Diana Waldron, his stepfather John Rachal, his stepsister and stepbrother Hannah and Wyatt Rachal, numerous cousins, and his devoted dog, Mollie. Visitation will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church on Saturday, July 6, at 11 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the or to Southern Pines Animal Shelter.
