A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday at the Chapel of Hardy Street Baptist Church for Larry Harrison Rouse, 68, of Hattiesburg.
He died Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Forrest General Hospital with his family by his side.
Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Larry was born in New Orleans, LA on August 26, 1944 to Lawrence Harrison and Ora Weathers Rouse. He was a graduate of Hattiesburg High School and the University of Southern Mississippi.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1963-1967 and was stationed in South Korea and served a tour of duty in Vietnam during the war.
He taught History at Stone County High School from 1969 to 1980. He retired from the Department of Health in 2009 after 24 years. He was a past president of the Mississippi Public Health Association and devoted many hours to the success of the organization.
Larry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Judy Martin Rouse; two sons, Lance Harrison Rouse and his wife, Melissa of Lafayette, LA and Matthew Martin Rouse and his wife, Lara of Mobile, AL; three grandchildren, Jesse Hudson Rouse, Ella Alina Rouse and Ryah Harrison Rouse; two brothers, Douglas Wesley Rouse of Hattiesburg and William Felton Rouse of Vicksburg.
Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Memorials may be made to Hardy Street Baptist Church General Fund.
Visitation will be 6:00-9:00 PM Friday at Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home and beginning at 9:00 AM Saturday at Hardy Street Baptist Church Chapel.
