Gary Williamson

Moselle

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 16, 2013, at Sanford Missionary Baptist Church for Mr. Gary Williamson, 70, of Moselle who died August 12, 2013. Bro. James Broome and Bro. Gerald King will officiate at the service with burial to follow at Shelton Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Williamson was a U.S. Navy veteran and served aboard the USS Independence. He also served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 16 years and was activated during Desert Storm. Mr. Williamson retired as Captain from the Hattiesburg Fire Dept. after 25 years of service and was later employed by the First Baptist Church of Hattiesburg as Building Superintendent until retirement. He was an avid gardener and fisherman and loved nothing more than being with his family. He was a member of the Sanford Missionary Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Harvey and Gladys Williamson; and a brother, Rankin Williamson.

Survivors include his loving wife, Rachel Guthrie Williamson; son, Jeff (Julie) Williamson of Moselle; daughter, Kim (Richard) McCarthy of Hattiesburg, five granddaughters, Amber, Cathelin, Sara, Mary Franklin, and Nora Douglas; sisters, Frankie Ruppert of Moselle, Bettye (Theron) Nobles of Sumrall, Diane (Joe) Thompson of Moselle.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at Sanford Missionary Baptist Church in Sanford.
