Barbara Jean Sumner, 66, died Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the hospice care center in Hazard.
She was born June 5, 1947, in Hazard to the late Ray Hall and the late Orene Halcomb Hall, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Sumner. She was a life-long resident of Perry County and a faithful member of the Big Leatherwood First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Melvetta Craig and husband James of Sassafras, and Rhonda Moore and husband John of Somerset; sisters Nellie Robinson and husband Larry of Indianapolis, In, Linda Caudill and husband Danny of Delphia, and Mary Lynn Horn and husband Jimmy of Inez; grandchildren Kristyn Rae Moore and Kaitlyn Ronne' Moore; nieces Teresa Franks and husband Larry of Indianapolis, Danielle Harvey of Jeffersonville, In., and Lyndsey Horn of Inez; nephews Adam Franks of Indianapolis and Colin Horn of Inez; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. at the Big Leatherwood First Baptist Church with Eddie Williams and Cecil Morgan officiating. The interment will follow in the Whispering Pines Cemetery at Delphia. The visitation will be at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 5 t 9 p.m.
