Hiram Campbell, 86, died Tuesday, Sept. 24 at the Hazard ARH medical center.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1927, to the late Charlie Campbell and the late Eliza Campbell. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Rosa Lee Campbell; son Hiram Campbell, Jr.; daughter Carolyn Johnson; step-father Hemp Collins; brothers Jack, Richard, David, and Barney; and sisters, Mauda, Jean, Doris, and Susie.
Hiram was a lifelong resident of Perry County and an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a proud coal miner for 38 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Feltner Campbell of Hazard; son Fred Campbell and wife Vickie of Georgetown; daughters Patricia Estepp and husband Mark of Cedar Bluff, Va., and Kathy Maggard of Dandridge, Tn.; brothers Willie Ray, James, Nathaniel, Bobby, Charles Dean, Anthony, Freddy, and Denver; sisters Ezella, Janie, Ruby, Cleda, Bonnie, Anna, Joyce, and Dosha; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted on Friday, Sept. 27 at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home of Hazard with Bobby Collins officiating. The interment followed in the Noble Family Cemetery located at Chavies.
