Orville Lee Francis, 73, of Hazard, died Friday, Nov. 15 in Lexington.
He was a bus driver in the Hazard Independent school system for 38 years, and the son of the late Jesse Francis and the late Ruth Wallace Francis. He was also preceded in death by his son, Donald Lee Francis, brother Ray Gibson, and sister Loretta G. Sanders.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Francis; daughters Ruth Francis, Cheryl Francis, Deborah Francis, and Kinetta Francis; sons Orville Lee Francis, Jr. and Anthony Wayne Francis and wife Diane; sisters Portia Combs, Shelia Davidson, Cleo Wynn, Dorothy Francis, Susie Francis, Sharon Kay Francis, Janet Martin, Shelia Henderson, Claudia Hill, Patricia Gibson, and Darla Gibson.
He is also survived by brothers Eddie Francis, Jesse Bradford Francis, David Francis, Dobber Gibson, Roger Gibson, Terry Gibson, and Michael Whitaker; grandchildren Brandon, Sheldon, Rodriquez, Triston, Mariah, Jamie, Morgan, Lacie, Keisha, and Antonio; great-grandchildren Braylon, Bryson, Kaylia, Chloe, Landon, Hadley, Shantiana, Braxton, Brayton, and Breanna; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard, where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 21. Services will follow with Rev. Anthony Wayne Francis, Dirk Combs, and Sonya Hill officiating. Interment will be at Lick Branch Cemetery in Hazard.
