G.R. Baker, 77, of Hazard, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, at the Hazard ARK. He was a United States Army Veteran and a retired deputy jailer. He was the son of the late Bill Baker and the late Cora Hoskins Baker. He is also preceded in death by two sisters, Murrell Neeley and Rose Sizemore, and five brothers, Nathaniel, Ben, Girdley, Bill, and Troy Baker.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Baker; two daughters, Suzanne Baker and Kristin Baker; three sons, Jerry Baker, Greg "Hoho" and Myra Baker, and Blake Baker; one brother, Edgar Baker; six grandchildren, Dylan, Drew, Dalton, Jerry Glenn, Katherine, and Madison; one great-grandchild, Ayden; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29, and funeral services will be held directly after, with Dr. Bill Scott officiating. Entombment will be at the Mountain View Memorial Garden in Hazard, and DAV rites will be performed by the Hazard DAV Chapter 64.
