Alma Buckner, 93, of Hazard, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, at her residence. She was a theater owner.She was the daughter of the late Ballard Smith and the late Mary Combs Smith. She is also preceded in death by her husband, George A. Buckner; three sisters, Della Hurt, Anna Ritchie, and Ruth Cahill; and three brothers, Arvie, Carl, and Evan Smith.
She is survived by two daughters, Kaye and Charles Williams, and Jean Amburgey; one sister, Lois Jean and Pat Gillis; one brother, Don and Faye Smith; one sister-in-law, Lois Smith; two grandchildren, Angie Stacy and Michael Isaacs; two great-grandchildren, Brittany Stacy and Christopher Stacy; one great-great-grandchild, Braxton Mosley; and a host of sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain view Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13. Funeral services will be at the First Creek Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, with Rev. A.D. Pete McGee and Rev. James Hamblin officiating. Pallbearers will be Jerry Collins, James D. Holliday, Michael Isaacs, Richard Mosley, Tyler Slone, George Smith, Christopher Stacy, and Charles Williams. Interment will be at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Jeff.
