Arvel Baker, 83, passed away on Saturday March 8, at his residence at Campbell's Creek. He was born in Yerkes, the son of the late Tinsley Baker and the late Alcie Eldridge Baker. He was also preceded in death by three children, Earl Baker, Glenna Baker, and Judy Ann Baker; and brother, Arlie Baker. He was a life-long resident of Perry County and was a member of the Krypton Masonic Lodge No. 905.
He is survived by his wife, Murrel Baker; three sons, Larry Baker and Vanessa, Timmy Baker and Dani, and Danny Baker; daughter, Mary Griffin and Larry; brother, Marshall Baker; seven sisters, Mildred Baker, Reba Hamblin, Betty Stidham, Seba Hanko, Helen Dixon, Thelma King, and Barbara Ann Owens; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Arrangements are being handled by the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home in Hazard, where the family will receive friends Monday, March 10, from 6 p.m. to p.m., with additional services to be held at 7:30 p.m. Masonic rites will be performed by the Krypton Masonic Lodge No. 905 at 7 p.m. funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 11, at 1 p.m. with Gary Bellamy officiating. Interment will follow in the Estes Colwell Cemetery at Forked Mouth.
