Chester "Dean" Bowling, Jr., 73, died Tuesday, Aug. 20 at the hospice care center in Hazard.
He was born in Hazard on Dec. 27, 1939, to the late Chester and Minnie Bowling, and was also preceded in death by granddaughter Betty Dillon; brothers Paul Bowling and Ray "Shockey" Bowling; sister Velma Noplis; and brother-in-law Tommy Mullins.
He enjoyed attending church at the Victory Lighthouse Pentecostal Church, where he was a faithful member.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Bowling of Viper; sons Harlan Wayne and wife Sue of Missouri, Delmar and wife Linda of Viper, and Ricky of Missouri; and daughters Candy and husband Mike of Franklin, Ohio, Teresa and husband Joe of Cornettsville, and Yvonne and husband Randy of Hazard.
He is also survived by brothers Burton Bowling of Dayton, Ohio, and Aaron Bowling of Ashland, Kentucky; sisters Parma Lee Mullins of Hazard and Doris Bowling of Franklin, Ohio; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Aug. 23 with Henry Fugate, Delmar Butler, Edgar Wells, and Mike Smith officiating at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home of Hazard. Burial took place at the Adams-Lewis Cemetery located at Viper.
