Mamie Baker, 98, died Thursday, July 18 at her residence in Bonnyman.

She was born on Sept. 25, 1914, to the late Bev P. and Maude Baker in Owsley County, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Baker; son James Edward Baker; and daughters Mary Maude Begley and Mable Ward.

She is survived by sons Charles Baker and wife Charlene of Bulan, and John Glenn of Lexington; daughters Barbara Gertrudes of Ohio, Peg Smith and husband Johnny of Richmond, and Phyllis Riddell and husband Roger of Irvin; along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 20 with Rev. Dean Demaris officiating at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home of Hazard. Burial took place at the Smith-Stidham Cemetery in Chavies.
