Arnold Thompson, 88, of Yerkes, passed away Saturday, April 26, at the Hazard ARH. He was a retired surpervisor for the CSX Railroad, a member of the Yerkes Baptist Church and a 60-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was the son of the late Jace Thompson and the late Ida Gail Adams. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Magdaline Colwell Thompson; two sons, Donald L. Thompson and Anthony W. Thompson; one daughter, Sybil Snowden; two sisters, Ethel Fugate and Geraldine Morgan; and two brothers, Ray and Edward Thompson.
He is survived by his wife, Reva Thompson; one daughter, Viola Darlene and Michael Mann, of Mt. Washington, Ky.; one son, James Arnold and Janie Thompson, of Richmond, Ky.; two sisters, Barbara and Elmer Ferrell, of Covington, Ky., and Faye and Charlie Shannon, of Ohio; one brother, Odis and Deloris "Kitten" Thompson, of Ohio; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Arrangements are being handled by Maggard's Mountain View Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, April 28, with Masonic Rites at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at the Yerkes Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, with Paul Couch officiating. Interment will be at the Yerkes Baptist Cemetery in Yerkes.
