Vivian Benton, 83, passed away on Saturday, July 5, at the Stanton Health and Rehab Center in Stanton, Ky. She was the daughter of the late Price Thomas, Sr., and the late Dora Trusty Thomas. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Willie Clay Benton; two sisters, Doris Arledge and Thelma Angel; one son, Lindsey Benton; one step-son, Don Benton; and one granddaughter, Kimberly Messer.
She is survived by three sons, David Benton, of Hyden, Thomas Benton, of Lexington, and Steven and Jannie Benton, of Hyden; one step-son, Jimmy Benton, of Crittenden; three daughters, Kathy Morgan, of W. Va., Sharon Lewis and James Carroll, of Washington, D.C., and Brenda and Zee Willoughby, of Jeffersonville; one brother, Price Thomas, Jr., of Ohio; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends survive.
Arrangements were handled by the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home in Hazard, where family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday, July 8. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 9, at the Maple Street Church of God, in Hazard, with Merrill David Combs and Jonnie Akers officiating. Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Hazard.
