Oscar Earl Smith, 88, of Hazard, passed away on Saturday, July 26, at the Hazard Health and Rehab. He was a United States Air Force veteran and a retired coal miner.

He was the son of the late Warren Smith and the late Otha Crawford Smith. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Elise Bolin Smith; one grandchild, April Stanfill; one sister, Ernestine Cline; and three brothers. William Ray Smith, Hershel Smith, and Lou Edward Smith.

He is survived by his two daughters, Sherry E. and Richard Foster and Theresa and Dana Miniard; one son, Howard Stanfill; two sisters, Reba Lambert and Christine Matheny; two brothers, Benny Ray Smith and Eugene Smith; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Arrangements were handled by Maggard's Mountain View Chapel, where family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 30, and funeral services will follow directly after, with Rev. Clell Miller officiating. Interment will be at the Crawford Cemetery in Hazard.
