Ernest Joseph, 82, of Avawam, died Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the Hazard ARH medical center.
He was a retired coal miner and son of the late Phillip Joseph and the late Sally Roberts Joseph. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Baker Joseph, sister Katherine Wooton, and brother Bill Joseph.
He is survived by his son, Larry Joseph and wife Bonnie of Avawam; daughters Hazel Smith of Tennessee, Judy Ann Kmiotek and husband Kenneth of Michigan, Loudean Smith and husband Frank of Avawam, Carolyn Tarkington and husband Dennis of Florida, and Sandra Joseph Clemons and husband David of Hazard; sisters Edith Johnson of Confluence, and Hallie Wooton and Faye Baker, both of Hyden; brothers Raymond Earl Joseph of London; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
Arrangements are being handled by Maggard Mountain View Chapel of Hazard, where the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11. Services will follow with Larry Hendrix and Troy Smith officiating.
