Elizabeth Reeves Allen, 86, of Naples, Fla., died at her home, surrounded by family on March 21, 2013, after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Sarah Blair Reeves and Forest McKee Reeves of Pleasureville.
She is survived by a son, Lee Reeves Allen of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and daughter, Lisa Allen Congleton of Naples, Fla.; 3 grandsons, Larry Thomas Congleton Jr., of St. Augustine, Fla., Jason Lynn Congleton, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Timothy Allen Congleton, of Campbellsburg, and 8 great grandchildren; siblings include Mary Reeves Jones and Forest Leonard Reeves both of Naples, Fla., 7 nieces and nephews, and 7 great nieces and nephews. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her late husband, Lynn Allen, of Eminence; siblings Sarah Reeves Roberts and Nancy Reeves Robertson of Louisville, and Rose Reeves Smith of New Castle.
Elizabeth, formerly of Eminence, was a retired nurse having practiced at the Henry County Clinic, Eminence, and the Kings Daughters Hospital, (currently Jewish Hospital) Shelbyville. During the 1960s and 70s Elizabeth owned and operated "The Allen Shop," a woman's clothing store in Eminence. She was also active on the Board of the Lago Mar Club Condominiums in Naples and a member of the Eminence Christian Church.
There will be a "Celebration of Life" Reception for Elizabeth in Naples in April, followed by a Memorial Graveside service at the Eminence Cemetery in Eminence in late May.
