Robert E. Rawlins, age 71 of Smithfield, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, in Charleston, S.C. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky Law School and was a life-long member of Sigma Chi. He served 30 years as a prosecutor with the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern Kentucky District. Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Charleene (Davidson) Rawlins.
He is survived by his wife, Constance Rawlins, Smithfield; his father, Robert H. Rawlins (Mary Jane) of Ft. Myers, Fla.; two brothers, David D. Rawlins (Cindi) of St. Simon, Ga. and John Rawlins (Helen) of Phoenixville, Pa.; step-children, Matthew White of Lexington, Benjamin White (Cassandra) of Defoe and Stefanie White (Hiram Gibbard) of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Lucy White and Bennie White; nieces and nephews, Justin Rawlins, Andrew Rawlins, Kimberly Rawlins McKenzie (Travis), Martha Rawlins Heid (John) and Elizabeth Rawlins Sproule (Greg) and his beloved Airedale, Meggie.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday, Oct. 23) at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home, Dr. Dave Charlton will officiate. Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.
