Robert "Bobby" Ellis, age 69 of Eminence, died Thursday, July 4, 2013, at his residence. Son of the late Dee Richard and Nancy Jane (Moody) Ellis, he graduated from the University of Kentucky. A "Man Among Men," he served his country as a Captain in the United States Army and was an elder of Eminence Christian Church. Bobby served his men, his family, and God, always putting God first.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha (Kirchner) Ellis of Eminence; his daughter, Carrie (Ellis) Nethery and husband, Chris, of Eminence; two sons: Worth Ellis of Lexington and Justin Ellis and wife, Susan, of Shelbyville; his sister, Nancy Dee (Ellis) Raisor and husband, Phillip, of Goodland, Fla.; two brothers: Jim Ellis and wife, Susan and Mike Ellis and wife, Sue, all of Shelbyville; and two grandchildren: Christopher Bradshaw and Caliann Dawn Nethery.
Funeral Service were at 11 a.m. Monday, July 8, at Eminence Christian Church, officiated by the Rev. Thomas D. Minton and Pastor Bob Harris. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at Eminence Christian Church and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Monday at the church.
Honorary Pallbearers were Randy Hartford, Bill Frazier, Robert Thurman, Jessie Wallace, Bob Lumsden, Bill Hayes, Claude "Junie" Berry Jr., and Tom Gowin.
Active Pallbearers were David Allen, Matt McClure, Tony Adams, Bill Brammell, J.T. Stinson and Tim Adams.
