Carolyn B. Jeffries, age 81, of New Castle, passed away Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018. Daughter of the late Fred Alvin and Carolyn Baumbarten Billman, Carolyn retired as a teacher after many years at Pleasureville, New Castle and Henry County Middle schools. She was a lifetime leader in many community organizations, including Henry County and Kentucky Education Associations, 4-H, Homemakers and other extension service activities, where she was recognized locally, regionally and statewide for her outstanding contributions to those organizations. She was an active member and leader of Point Pleasant Christian Church. Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Jeffries.
She is survived by three daughters, Rae Lynne Morgan (Charles) of Shelbyville, Janet Stinebruner of Louisville and Joy Royalty (Tim) of New Castle; one son, Keith Jeffries (Laura) of New Castle; one sister, Sue Ann Talbot (Carleton) of El Paso, Texas; one brother, Fred Richard Billman (Carol) of Jeamnette, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Dean Moffett, Jackson Jeffries, Carlynne Morgan, Savannah Hall, Sam Royalty, Clint Diven, Ella Royalty and Derek Jeffries (Amanda).
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Anthony Pierce of La Grange. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, Jan.12, 2018, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home.
Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Burial will follow in New Castle Cemetery.
Following the graveside services, all are welcome to attend a bereavement meal and fellowship at the Henry County 4-H Center at the Henry County Fairgrounds, two miles south of New Castle on Hwy. 421.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Henry County 4-H Council at P.O. Box 246, New Castle, Ky. 40050.
